Vindictus Europe: Still Alive?

July 1, 2011

Seems so.

First of all, I haven’t written anything on here in a long time, because well.. I live in Europe and as a fan of Vindictus there was very little to look forward to in the last few months. Things were pretty grim, with no certainty of a release at all. Nexon Europe also ignored European fans throughout the entire process; after the announcement last year that Vindictus would be released in Europe, they’ve done a very poor job of communicating towards their fans. I think we all agree on that.

But now, slowly, there seems to be some hope again for European fans of the game. If there’s one thing we’ve learned though, it’s never to get our hopes up high. However, with some updates on the Vindictus Europe Facebook and a renewed front page of the official EU page, it seems like a release is inevitable.

When? Ahh.. while I wouldn’t take their word for it right, Nexon has said Vindictus should launch in EU during Q4 of this year.

Here’s the full quote, plugged from their Facebook page:

Hello Vindictus fans! We know there has been a great demand on Vindictus for its European debut and we are very sorry that we couldn’t provide you with timely updates and news. We sincerely apologize for such a long delay and we are more than happy to announce that Vindictus is coming to Europe in this year’s Q4! Stay tuned here as we’ll be dropping you updates through our Facebook channel.

Before I finish this post; a small skills trailer released during E3, enjoy.

Lann Strength Gear Guide

November 27, 2010

In Vindictus, higher equip doesn’t always mean better equip. It depends on what you’re trying to achieve (newer gear may have more DEF, but lower STR).

Some ideas for raising STR as Lann for maximum damage output. I’m sure there’s some mistakes or things I left out. If so, feel free to leave a comment. Also, a lot of this will change with Boat 4 gear and the STR you can get from their set bonuses.

Boots:
Lv. 1-8: Whatever you find.
Lv. 8+: Crimson Rage Boots (+11)
Level 20+: Savage Leather Boots (+23)
Level 36+: White Tyrant Boots (+25)

Gloves:
Lv. 1-8: Whatever you find.
Lv. 8+: Crimson Rage Gloves (+10)
Lv. 18+: Wind Crust Gloves (+13) (You get these from a quest)
Lv. 20+: Savage Leather Gloves (+26)
After this, there’s nothing really worth it since it doesn’t give higher STR. And the Lv. 20 gloves give a fair amount of DEF and also 20HP.

Helm:
Lv. 1-6: Whatever you find.
Lv. 6+: Veteran Raiment Helm (+5) or Light Battle Mail Helm (+5)
Lv. 8+: Crimson Rage Helm (Doesn’t add STR, but you may want to opt for this for the other stats and 27HP. Heavy armor)
Lv. 20+: Light Battle Mail Helm (+13) or wait till Lv. 22
Lv. 22+: Savage Leather Trapper (+12) One less STR but you might want this for the DEF+HP
Lv. 36+: White Tyrant Helmet (+16)

Pants:
Lv. 1-10: Whatever you find.
Lv. 10: Crimson Rage Pants (+18). Note that this is heavy armor, not light.
Lv. 36: White Tyrant Leg Armor (+24)

Tunic:
Lv. 1-10: Whatever you find.
Lv. 10: Crimson Rage Tunic (+24)
Lv. 22: Sharpshooter Leather Armor Tunic (+32). You might want to hold out till Lv. 24 though.
Lv. 24: Savage Leather Chestpiece (+35)
Lv. 36: White Tyrant Breastplate (+35) No increase in STR since Lv. 24, but more DEF+HP.

Prepare for Boat 4

November 24, 2010

Episode 4 “King of the Gnolls” is coming to VindictusNA on the 1st of December.
Full details here.
Press release here.

This basically means:
- Boat 4 will be unlocked, opening up two new dungeons, as well as several boss fights.
- Level cap will be raised (Lv. 38 -> Lv. 44)
- A few new equips.
- New skills. Glad to see Evie will be able to create Golems.

NexonNA released a teaser video about it here:

If you want to prepare for Boat 4 and work out some strategies for the boss fights, Steparu still has some good footage on Youtube about Boat 4.

Some of it here:

There’s much more out there to find from the KR version if you’re keen on using Youtube search.

More details on Kalok, in-game footage

November 22, 2010

This isn’t new, been out for a bit, but I thought I’d post it for the people that haven’t seen this yet.

Kalok

Weapons are so passé. I swing a fricking pillar. Boo-ya.

This is the 4th character that will be added to the game, Kalok or Karok (English name unknown at this time, but the Korean site says “Kalok” on their promo site). Details on the character were announced recently at G-Star 2010 in Korea.

What we can see from the video is that this character will be able to block and counter boss characters, even during smash attacks. There also seem to be a number of grabbing techniques and bare-handed combat.

As a fun extra, Live-action teaser :)
Actually this guy promo’d during the entire event, watch more here and here.

The promo site can be found here (Korean):

Kalok

Almost out of proportion?

More in-game renders can be found on the Screenshot section of the official Korean website.

Kalok is set to be released in the Korean version of the game on the 14th of December, 2010.

Launch Trailer: Short vs Long version

November 18, 2010

Bit confusing. There was a launch trailer up for Vindictus on Youtube, somewhere at the beginning of November. It was about 30 seconds, really great trailer.

Strangely enough, the new launch trailer of the game, put up a few days ago (15th) is much longer (2 mins). It’s not bad, but somehow I preferred the first, shorter version. Seems like Nexon made the first one “Private”, so no longer viewable on their Youtube channel.

However, I did find it again on Youtube, seems like someone uploaded it.

So here they both are, for your viewing pleasure (both can be viewed in 720p):

Short, original version: [00:31]

Longer, official launch trailer: [02:01]
